Written by Zen Buddhist monk, Japanese garden designer, and professor Shunmyō Masuno, this book offers a series of short lessons about how to live a calmer and happier life. The book says that many of our worries come from expecting too much, comparing ourselves to others, fearing the future, and holding onto the past. When we learn to let go, slow down, and follow our own instincts and values, we create space for a life that is meaningful and fulfilling. Perhaps easier said than done? Actually, the encouragement and wisdom offered in this book make such a life feel attainable. I bought this book while in transit at an airport, and was expecting an enjoyable and easy read, but nothing overly inspiring. I was wrong. The book made me ponder and smile the whole way through. I recommend this book for everyone!
