Dr Lizzie Stewart, BA(Psych)(Hons), D.Psych, PhD
Clinical Approach. My clinical approach is influenced by systemic family therapy, Gestalt thinking, Buddhism, and cognitive-behavioural frames. I use evidence-based techniques that prioritise connection, containment, self-compassion, kindness, and a free to learn and develop frame. My approach is family focused and attachment based.
With children and teens, I use both cognitive and somatic techniques to help them integrate the right and left hemispheres of their brains. My goal is to help kids achieve emotion regulation and healthy self esteem; to balance the drive for social connection with the need for authentic self expression.
With parents, I work within a relational frame that balances containment with attunement to childrens feelings and needs. A part of this involves insight oriented therapy to help parents understand their own emotional reactions so that they can better help their child.
I am currently consulting online only. Please fill in the bookings form below to request an appointment.
