Pitched at tweens, this informational guide touches on the physical, emotional and social changes that happen during puberty, such as periods, up-and-down moods, self-esteem, new sexual feelings, and friendships. The author focuses on psychoeducation, validation, reassurance, and simple strategies to help girls get through the early teen years. When I discussed this book with fellow parents and child psychologists it received divisive comments, with some elements thought to be a bit invalidating or abrupt. Nevertheless, I think the information offered is worthwhile, and recommend that parents read this with their teens as a launchpad for discussion and normalisation. Suitable for those aged 8 and up.
