In a time where war seems to be all around us, this book offers a rare and safe opportunity to speak to our kids about the impact of war on children and families. It is not a story that gives unfounded hope or promise, but a simple recollection of a families journey as they flee their homeland. It speaks of their worries, fears and sadness, as well as the unexpected bonding and strength they gain as they are displaced. As a mother, I am conscious of not sheltering my girls from wordly realities, but also of not frightening, overwhelming or introducing them to concepts they are not ready to grapple with. This is a story that provoked curiosity and compassion in our home. Suitable for children from 4 years old.
